MIL-V-62008B(AT)
If any boresight knob has to be moved more than values specified to bring the line of eight of an instrument "dead on" target, one more determination of retention shall be made after another 8 miles of operation. All instruments shall maintain boresight.
4.5.2.9 Boresight retention test, machine gun sighting system. To determine conformance to 3.6.17.4, the following procedure shall be followed:
a. Prior to 8 mile road test (see 4.5.1.1), the vehicle shall be positioned at least
600 meters from clearly defined target.
b. Gun shall be placed "dead on" target by laying from low to high without over travel.
c. The periscope reticle shall be placed "dead on" same target chosen in b.
Boresight knobs shall be locked in this position and micrometer scales slipped
to their nominal position.
d. Eight mile road test shall be performed.
e. Vehicle shall be returned to position established in a. f. Step b shall be repeated.
g. The boresight knobs, excluding boresight, knob backlash, of the periscope shall be used if necessary to position its reticle "dead on" target and the error
determined from boresight knob scale reading. Boresight retention shall be within the tolerance specified in 3.6.17.4.
If either boresight knob has to be moved more than the value specified to bring the line of sight of the periscope "dead on" target, one more determination of retention shall be made after another 8 miles of operation and the periscope shall maintain boresight.
4.5.2.10 Vehicle hydraulic system fluid test. To determine conformance to 3.6.18.6 the hydraulic oil in the vehicle control system shall be tested for water contamination and cleanliness.
4.5.2.11 Fire extinguisher control check. To determine conformance to 3.8, one vehicle per month shall have the fire extinguisher test for operation. With the engine idling at 700 to
800 rpm, the internal control shall be pulled with a maximum effort of 55 pounds using a force gage. The first shot shall actuate one cylinder. After a time delay of not more than 11 seconds,
the engine shall have stopped and the system shall begin discharging C02 into the engine compartment and in the center of the engine "V". After returning the handle to its original position, a second actuation shall discharge the remaining two cylinders of C02. Removal and weighing of each C02 cylinder after test shall show a minimum of 10 pounds C02 discharged during test (see 6.3).
4.5.2.12 Gas particulate filter system test. To determine conformance to 3.9.1 and 3.9.2, the existing ambient temperature shall be recorded and all crew outlets shall be opened. The air flow at each outlet shall be checked and shall be as specified. When the temperature has risen
10 and proceeding conditions have been specified, the heater shall be considered properly installed.
