3.6.8.2 Deep water. Vehicle shall ford a level, hard bottom, water 8 feet in depth when a fording kit is installed. With the vehicle standing in water 8 feet in depth for 30 minutes and the bilge pump operating as required, the accumulation of water shall not be more than 3 inches on the crew compartment hull floor in the center of the "v" and there shall be no water accumulation in the right or left brake housings (see 6.6)
3.6.8.3 Front and rear drain valves. After unlocking level, the force required to operate the front drain valve level shall not exceed 17 pounds at the end of the hand grip to actuate the valve a minimum of 3/8 inch travel. After unlocking lever, the force required to operate the rear drain valve level shall not exceed 25 pounds at a point just below the knob to actuate the valve through a minimum of 11/16 inch travel.
3.6.8.4 Inflatable seal and pump. The pump shall be capable of inflating the seal to
25 psi. The force required to operate the pump plunger shall not exceed 50 pounds.
3.6.8.5 Engine starting in shallow water. With vehicle standing for 30 minutes in water
48 inches in depth, the engine operating at 1,000 rpm for 15 minutes, then stopped for
15 minutes, the engine shall restart in not more than 3 minutes. All accessories shall function satisfactorily during and after fording operations. After fording operations, the water contamination content of the transmission, engines, final drives, and suspension system lubricants shall not be more than 2 percent by volume.
3.6.9 Trench crossing. Vehicle shall cross trenches 36 inches in depth and 99 inches in width without stalling or damage to suspension, boom, or fenders.
3.6.10 Vertical obstacles. Vehicle shall cross over vertical obstacles 30 inches in height while moving forward without stalling or damage to suspension and hull floor.
3.6.11 Climbing. Vehicle shall ascend longitudinal grades of 60 percent in forward and reverse gear without stalling or damage to power plant and power train. Vehicle shall operate on right and left side slopes of 30 percent.
3.6.12 Turret and gun control system and gun fire control system.
3.6.12.1 System performance. Unless otherwise specified, the turret and gun control system and gun fire control system shall operate and meet all requirements specified herein for the following operating conditions:
a. The turret shall be level within 1 degree.
b. The vehicle electrical system shall supply 26 vdc minimum to the turret and
gun control system with engine operating and the generating system on. c. The main armament shall be balanced as specified in 3.6.12.2.
d. The gun shall operate throughout the full range of depression an elevation.
