MIL-V-62008B(AT)
4.5.2.5 Fuel tank check. To determine conformance to 3.4.4.1, the fuel tank shall be filled at rate of not less than 50 gallons per minute and observed for leaks before and after a road test on smooth, level, and hard-surface road.
4.5.2.6 Vision devices and receptacle tests. To determine conformance to 3.4.10, the gunner and commander periscopes shall be installed in the proper receptacles and checked for line of sight. Clamp, observe deviation, record, and unclamp through four complete cycles. The four determinations shall be averaged and the resulting value assigned as the line of sight deviation for the instrument. All vision devices and receptacles, except articulating telescope, shall have a spray of water directed on each for a period of 3 minutes. All devices shall be checked for leakage in conjunction with 4.5.1.2.1.
4.5.2.7 Turret control hydraulic fluid test. To determine conformance to 3.6.13.18.1 and
3.6.13.18.2, the hydraulic oil in the control power pack shall be tested for water contamination and cleanliness and leakage.
4.5.2.8 Boresight retention test, main gun sighting system. To determine conformance to
3.6.14.5, the following procedure shall be followed:
a. Prior to 8 mile road test (see 4.5.1.1), vehicle shall be positioned at least
600 meters from clearly defined target.
b. Gun shall be placed "dead on" target by laying from low to high without over travel.
c. All sighting equipment shall be placed "dead on" same target chosen in b.
Boresight knobs shall be locked in this position and micrometer scales slipped
to their nominal position (3) or (4).
d. Eight mile road test shall be performed.
e. Vehicle shall be returned to position established in a. f. Step b shall be repeated.
g. The boresight knobs (excluding boresight knob backlash) of gunner periscope shall be used to position its reticle "dead on" target and the error determined
from boresight knob scale readings.
h. With the gunner daylight system periscope boresighted on target, the reticle of
the gunner M105F telescope shall be laid on the same target using the gun elevating and turret traversing controls.
i. The gunner periscope daylight system reticle shall be laid on target with the periscope boresight knobs noting the mil travel on the knobs.
j. The reading obtained in i shall be the shift in boresight of the gunner M105F
telescope.
k. Through this operation, the gunner M105F telescope shall remain in locked position. The boresight knobs on the gunner telescope mount shall not be used for checking shift in boresight.
