MIL-V-62475(AT)
3.5.22.1 DMD display. The DMD shall be able to display a mode menu as shown in figure 2, when the power is turned on or when the mode key is depressed, while power is on. Alphabetic, numeric and function keys, when pressed, shall display their respective characters when the operator (OPR) mode is chosen. The display bright (DSP BRT) and keyboard bright (KYBD BRT) controls shall rotate smoothly without binding and shall provide continuous control from total darkness to maximum brightness (see 4.6.4.21.1).
3.5.22.2 DMD message transmission. The DMD in the FISTV vehicle shall be capable of transmitting and receiving messages with another DMD at a base or remote station location. The XMIT key shall cause a message to be transmitted. The MSG key shall allow received messages to be displayed. The MSGl and MSG2 indicators shall illuminate respectively when the DMD has received a message. The FIST DMD shall be capable of receiving a designate command
from a remote DMD or other equivalent device. This command shall illuminate a green lamp in
the G/VLLD eyepiece display (see 4.6.4.21.2).
3.5.22.3 DMD/TSCD interface. The TSCD shall interface with the DMD to permit automatic transmission of a polar data word from the TSCD to the DMD whenever the G/VLLD is fired in a ranging mode (see 4.6.4.21.3).
3.5.23 Ground/vehicular laser locator and designator. The G/VLLD shall be capable of being fired by the trigger switch on the targeting station hand control. The G/VLLD shall not fire if a GLLD Code has not been entered into the TSCD or if a fire interrupt has been detected. When G/VLLD power is on and the dust cover is not opened, the audio alarm shall be activated (see 4.6.4.22).
3.5.23.1 G/VLLD remote control. A remotely operated dust cover shall be provided for the G/VLLD objective lens. The cover shall be capable of being placed over the lens or removed from the FOV by means of a manually actuated remote control system accessible to the targeting station operator (see 4.6.4.22.1).
3.5.24 North-seeking gyrocompass (NSG).
3.5.24.1 NSG lamps. The NSG ALIGN lamp on the TSCD front panel shall flash, upon power up, until vehicle coordinates are entered into the TSCD. The NSG ALIGN lamp shall be illuminated for no more than 10 minutes and 20 seconds when initializing and no more than
five minutes and 20 seconds when re-aligning. Once the NSG is ready to use, the NSG READY
lamp shall illuminate (see 4.6.4.23.1).
3.5.25 Electrical system. The FISTV vehicle electrical system shall include all components required for generation, conversion, distribution, and control of electrical power. The electrical system shall be in accordance with the vehicle electrical power characteristics as defined by
MIL-STD-1275. The equipment bus shall provide nominal power between 20 and 30 V dc.
Communication and electrical circuits shall maintain continuity from end to end, without any shorts from one pin to the other, or from each pin to the connector shell, to assure proper function of communication and other electrical equipment (see 4.6.4.24).
