3.5.14 Hatches. The driver's hatch shall provide three positions; closed, partially open and fully open. The targeting station and cargo hatch shall open and close. Positive locks shall be provided for all hatches in all required positions (see 4.6.4.13).
3.5.14.1 Hatch transition time. The transition time from open hatch (travel mode) and closed hatch (tactical mode) and vice versa shall require not more than 20 seconds
(see 4.6.4.13.1).
3.5.15 Ramp system. The ramp raising time, from a fully lowered position to a closed position, shall be not more than l8 seconds with the engine operating at not more than 1200 rpm (see 4.6.4.14).
3.5.16 Bilge pumps. The bilge pumps, shall remove water from the vehicle at a rate of at least 44 gallons per minute (gpm) [166.56 liters per minute (L/min)] each, with a discharge head of 4.5 ft [13.45 kilopascals (kPa)] and with the pump motor operating on 27.5 V impressed at the motor (see 4.6.4.15).
3.5.17 Trim vane. The FISTV vehicle trim vane shall properly engage in the extended, retracted and released positions without binding or excessive looseness (see 4.6.4.16).
3.5.18 Turning radius. The FISTV vehicle with the transmission control in differential steer, shall make continuous, full 360 degree turns to the right and to the left, with the rear point of the outer edge of the chassis at all times in contact with or within a 50 ft (15.2 m) diameter circle. When in pivot steer, the chassis shall pivot within a 28.0 ft (8.5 m) diameter circle. The applied force to the steering lever shall not exceed 100 lb [445 newtons (N)] to pivot the chassis
(see 4.6.4.17).
3.5.19 Optics.
3.5.19.1 Vision devices. Vision device receptacles incorporated in the vehicle shall accept vision devices defined herein without binding or interference, and provide adequate support during all vehicle operating conditions. All M17 and M26 periscopes and all vision blocks shall be equipped with blackout covers for night operation (see 4.6.4.18.1).
3.5.19.2 Panoramic telescope. The panoramic telescope shall allow the following motion.
Azimuth + 360 degrees Elevation + 10 degrees Depression 20 degrees
The panoramic telescope shall contain a mil graduated reticle, a laser safety filter, and shall provide a clear optical picture (see 4.6.4.18.2).
