Vehicles procured under this specification are commercial items which shall be warranted by the manufacturer as specified in acquisition documents.

3.4.18 Gasoline can. When specified (see 6.2), a demountable gasoline can shall be

provided on the vehicle. The can shall be of 5-gallon capacity and shall include a detachable

spout of sufficient length and flexibility to provide completely enclosed passage of the fuel from

the can to the fuel tank.

3.4.19 Accessories and equipment. Chassis equipment shall be complete with all

accessories furnished as standard equipment by the manufacturer. The following minimum

equipment shall be furnished:

3.4.20 Fire extinguisher. When specified (see 6.2), a 5-pound, dry chemical fire

extinguisher shall be furnished. The fire extinguisher shall have an Underwriter's Laboratory

rating of 2A:10 B:C or more, shall include a metal safety pin and wire, and shall conform to

size 5, type I or type II, class 1 of A-A-393. The fire extinguisher shall permit visual

determination as to whether it is fully charged.

3.5 Vehicle types.

3.5.1 Type I. Type I vehicle shall include a 2-man cab and a flatbed. The cab shall

conform to 3.4.9 and shall be furnished with a roll bar of not less than 3/16 inch thick steel in a

2 inch square tube. The flatbed shall be not less than 25 square feet in area and shall be of

diamond tread aluminum or steel capable of supporting a payload of not less than 2,400 pounds

over varied terrain without causing permanent deformation of any part of the bed. The flatbed

shall include tiedown holes around its perimeter to help secure the payload during vehicle

operation on uneven surfaces.
